Justin describes how he helps his clients.

Justin J.B., MA, LCMHCA, NCC

You’ve been told that therapy “doesn’t really work” and that eventually “you’ll be able to work out your problems on your own.” But, dealing with your current emotional obstacles is exhausting. You’re beginning to feel beat down. Your family and friends are not fulfilling the deeper support you need. Feeling misunderstood, it feels as though there is no way out from the walls closing in on you.

As your therapist, we will work collaboratively to find a way out out of these collapsing walls. Together we will discover the root of this emotional funk & replace it with positive feelings.

My approach to helping my clients is being open minded and non judgmental. I enjoy lacing my counseling sessions with evidenced based methods such as Gestalt, person-centered, and CBT techniques.

My Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. At UNCC, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies and continued on to achieve my Master’s in Counseling degree. I previously practiced in an outpatient substance abuse center and a private practice that helped low socioeconomic clients. Working with children as young as 8 and persons up into their 80’s, I specialize in Trauma, Anxiety, and Mood disorders.

When I’m not in therapist mode, I’m...

thoroughly enjoying having fun with friends and family, traveling, and most importantly thrifting. I love a good hunt for a vintage find whether it be in a Goodwill or an antique store.
