Friends of Dorothy
Solace Presents:
"Friends of Dorothy", A Queer Counseling Group group developed for individuals looking for that safe space to develop connections with others in their search for understanding themselves and gain confidence in their identity.
"Are you a friend of Dorothy?"
Judy Garland, who played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, is an icon within the LGBTQ+ community as one who is accepting of all those who are different and creating a safe space without fear of hostility. The name Dorothy became a coded language for LGBTQ+ individuals to utilize to discern if they were with a safe person and able to express themselves authentically, such as asking the question above.
Solace looks to show that we are allies, supporters of all positive people, and want to host a safe space for self-exploration and community. Come explore your gender and sexuality, build connections, and maybe find a "Good Judy" along the way.
This group is for people 18 +, 9.12-22-10.17.22, in person in our office, and led by Hannah McDonald, MSW, LCSW and Justin Johnson-Bradshaw, MA, LCMHCA, NCC.
